Biography
Maria Esther Cuan was born in Mexico City in 1989. She paints in oils, working primarily from observation blending realist depiction with impressionist techniques. Her subjects are birds, botanicals, portraits and the natural world — things that require time to see properly. She holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited internationally.
Esther spent more than a decade in the technology industry working as a software engineer and leader, including an engineering manager at NVIDIA, before returning full-time to her artistic practice. She lives and works between Mexico City and London.
